Che cosa è Mission Z013? What is Mission Z013?

In questa pagina illustriamo a coloro che vorranno sostenerci, in preghiera o economicamente, i propositi per la missione in Zimbabwe della nostra chiesa che si svolgerà durante l'estate.

This page has been set up to help us share about our church's mission trip to Zimbabwe this summer with current and potential prayer or financial supporters.

Da circa due anni stiamo sostenendo una famiglia italiana che si è trasferita a Bulawayo (la seconda
città per importanza dello Zimbabwe) come missionari per aiutare gli "ultimi" che vivono nei sobborghi e nei vari orfanotrofi della città.

As a church we have been helping to support an Italian family who moved to Bulawayo (Zimbabwe's second city) as missionaries to assist the poor who live in the suburbs and in the city's ophanages

Giuseppe ed Annarita Longo, dopo aver servito per oltre venti anni le chiese in Italia, hanno ricevuto la chiamata dal Signore di portare l'amore di Gesù in Africa.

Dal 12 Ottobre 2010 si sono trasferiti, assieme ai tre figli Emmanuele, Desirèe e Davide, a Bulawayo, nello Zimbabwe.

After 20 years' serving in Italian churches, Giuseppe and Annarita Longo received a call from the Lord to share Jesus's love in Africa. They moved to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe with their three children, Emmanuele, Desirée and Davide on October 12, 2010.

Molte sono le attività che svolgono a favore delle persone nel bisogno:

• accudiscono i bimbi dell'asilo;
• aiutano presso l'orfanotrofio (moltissimi bimbi hanno perso uno o entrambi i genitori per le malattie, prima su tutte l'AIDS);
• servono pasti nella "Youth Arena", un'area recintata dove, una volta a settimana si riuniscono tra i 100 e i 150 ragazzi orfani della zona per ascoltare la parola di Dio e ricevere cibo e nella "Soup kitchen", dove vengono offerti pasti ai senza tetto;

•  aiutano le vedove (moltissime per via dell'AIDS) e le ragazze madri, spesso vittime di abusi;
• equipaggiano i credenti locali affinché possano utilizzare al meglio i propri doni e i propri talenti.

They are involved in many different projects assisting the poor:

• they help at the nursery school
• they serve at the orphanages (many children  have lost one or both parents to illness, and especially to AIDS);
• they serve meals at the "Youth Arena", a protected area where, once a week, between 100-150 orphaned kids receive food from the "Soup Kitchen" and also hear God's word; meals are also offered to th homeless.;
• they assist widows (many due to AIDS) and single mums, often abuse victims;
• they equip local believers so that they may use their gifts and talents better.

 La nostra chiesa ha il privilegio di sostenerli in questa loro opera.

Our church has the privilege to support them in their work.

Come siamo stati coinvolti - How we got involved

Il coinvolgimento della nostra chiesa con la missione di Giusepppe da Annarita ha avuto diverse fasi.

Our involvement as a church with Giuseppe and Annarita's mission has gradually grown through several stages.

Fase 1 - La chiamata 

A metà del 2010, Giuseppe ed Annarita, che conoscevamo già per aver fatto parte della stessa chiesa (prima di essere mandati a piantarne una nuova a Montefiascone), vennero un giorno a raccontarci della loro chiamata a servire in Africa.

Li ascoltammo, riflettemmo, pregammo insieme a loro e per loro. Il Signore ci mostrò come la loro chiamata fosse reale e incontrovertibile.  Anche se non eravamo la chiesa che frequentavano al momento, la loro missione ci entusiasmò così tanto che li incoraggiammo a seguire la loro chiamata, decidendo di supportarli economicamente e in preghiera.

Stage 1 - The Call
Mid-2010, Giuseppe and Annarita, whom we knew because we had all been  members of the same church (before church planting in Montefiascone) came to us one day to tell us of their calling to serve in Africa.

We listened to them, reflected and prayed with them and for them, and  the Lord convinced us of their calling.  Even though we were no longer in the same local church, their mission was so God-inspired that we encouraged them to proceed and decided to partner with them in prayer and also financially.

Fase 2 - I bisogni

Una volta arrivati in Zimbabwe, e stabilitisi a Bulawayo, Giuseppe ed Annarita iniziarono a condividere con noi le loro sfide ed i bisogni della gente che incontravano. Ci rendemmo conto che  Dio stava chiamando la nostra chiesa a dare molto di più di quello che già dava. Ma come?

Decidemmo di allestire un Bazar natalizio, producendo da soli i materiali da vendere ad amici, conoscenti, ospiti e semplici passanti. Tutti gli incassi sarebbero andati ai bambini degli orfanotrofi e alla mensa per i poveri. Il Bazar è diventata ormai una tradizione nella nostra chiesa, e le cifre raccolte sono ogni anno maggiori.

Stage 2 - The needs

Once settled in Bulawayo Giuseppe and Annarita started sharing their challenges and the needs of the people they were meeting. We realised that God was calling our church to give more than before; But how, exactly?

We decided to set up a Bazaar around Christmas with crafts etc to sell to friends, acquaintances and passers-by. All the proceeds would go to the children in the orphanages and to the soup kitchen for feeding the poor. The Bazaar nowadays became a tradition for our church, and the money we get from it are constantly increasing.

Fase 3 - La visita

Ad aprile del 2012 Giuseppe ed Annarita tornarono in Italia per raccontare di persona delle necessità che vedevano, ma soprattutto delle cose stupende che Dio stava facendo per mezzo di loro tra quegli
ultimi. Ancora una volta Dio ci sfidò a fare "un passo in più".

Stage 3 - The visit

April 2012: Giuseppe and Annarita returned to Italy to personally tell Italian churches about the needs they saw but above all about the amazing things God was doing there. Once again, God was challenging us to take "another step".

Fase 4 - L'esplorazione

Decidemmo di mandare "uno di noi", come pioniere della chiesa, in Zimbabwe.

Bernardino partì nell'estate 2012, raggiungendo Giuseppe ed Annarita e lavorando su programmi specifici per due mesi, insegnando alle donne come fare formaggio e yogurt da sole, riparando e dipingendo locali di chiese, e aiutando negli orfanotrofi.

Essendo un artista, realizzò un grande affresco rappresentante l'Arca nei locali della scuola domenicale di una chiesa.

Stage 4 - Exploring

We decided to send "one of us", as a scout, to Zimbabwe.

Bernardino set off in summer 2012 to stay with Giuseppe and Annarita and worked on some specific projects for a couple of months, including teaching some women how to make cheese and yoghurt (much cheaper than buying from shops); repairing and painting rooms in churches, nursery schools and helping in the orphanages.

Since he is an artist, he also completed an enormous mural of Noah's ark (3 metres high) in the Sunday school hall of a church.

Fase 5 - Mission Z013

Eccoci giunti alla fase attuale. Un gruppo di 6 persone appartenenti tutte alla nostra chiesa si recherà per due settimane in Zimbabwe! Bernardino sarà già là da un mese ad aspettarci e rimarrà a Bulawayo e dintorni per un successivo mese.

Stage 5 - Mission Z013

Here we are at the latest stage. A group of 6 belonging to our church will be going to Zimbabwe for 2 weeks! Bernardino has gone on ahead and will remain longer but will be there waiting for us.

I nostri obiettivi - Our targets

Certamente un periodo di due settimane non è molto; perché stiamo andando e cosa faremo, dunque?

Undoubtedly, two weeks is not very long; so why are we going and what will we be doing?

Perché stiamo andando

• Perché vogliamo incoraggiare Giuseppe ed Annarita in quello che stanno facendo.
• Perché vogliamo incoraggiare le persone che incontreremo a Bulawayo. 
• Perché vogliamo aiutarli sia praticamente che nello spirito per quel breve periodo che saremo tra loro.
• Perché vogliamo parlargli dell'amore che Dio ha per loro, ma anche fargli sapere che ci sono persone, a migliaia di chilometri di distanza, che pregano per loro, che raccolgono fondi per loro, che si interessano alla loro vita. E vogliamo farlo come persone reali, non come lettere , cartoline o email.

Why we are going

• because we wish to encourage Giuseppe and Annarita in what they are doing
• because we want to encourage those we meet in Bulawayo
• because we want to help them practically and spirtually during the short period we will be among them
• because we want to share God's love with them  and let them know that there are people, thousands of miles away, who are praying for them, raising funds and who care about their lives. And we want to do this in person.

Cosa faremo

• Porteremo con noi vestiti, materiale di prima necessità (come, ad esempio, i kit di pronto soccorso) per gli orfanotrofi di Bulawayo.
• Parteciperemo alle attività di servizio negli orfanotrofi e nella mensa per i poveri.
• Visiteremo le scuole locali.
• Visiteremo altre chiese per poter lodare assieme il nostro Signore.

What we'll be doing

• We'll be taking baby clothes, and some other needs (such as a first aid kit) for the orphanages in  Bulawayo.
• We'll take part in serving in the orphanages and the Soup Kitchen.
• We'll be visiting local schools.
• We'll be meeting with christians in the local church to worship the Lord together.

 Di cosa abbiamo bisogno

• Abbiamo bisogno di persone che si impegnino a pregare costantemente per il nostro gruppo, prima, durante e dopo il viaggio.
• la nostra è una piccola chiesa, e le spese che dovremo sostenere per il viaggio e la permanenza sono ingenti. Abbiamo fatto i biglietti per fede, per fede sappiamo che il Signore provvederà sia le preghiere che le somme necessarie alla missione. 

What we need

•  We need people who will commit to praying for our group before, during and after the trip.
• We have stepped out in faith and already bought our tickets, fully expecting God to provide every need, spiritually, physically and financially.
